More about this item
The cover on this well worn book caught my eye. The floral design on the leather bound book is lovely. Although the spine of the cover is cracked and wearing thin. The inside spine is starting to pull away from the book and the picture and title page are coming loose. There are 201 pages to this book and the back spine seems to be holding up and secure. It measures about 6.5" X a little over 4 1/4".
Thomas à Kempis was a German-Dutch priest who authored The Imitation of Christ in the mid-fifteenth century. The Imitation of Christ was written by Catholic monk Thomas Kempis (circa 1380-1471) The book has become one of the most widely read devotional works among Catholics, a spiritual guide with an emphasis on the interior life and a devotion to the Eucharist.
The Imitation of Christ is organized into four "books" consisting of short chapters. Book One is "Useful Admonitions for the Spiritual Life". Book Two addresses "Considerations for Leading an Interior Life". Book Three is "On Interior Conversation", and Book four is entitled, "On the Blessed Sacrament and Devout Exhortations for Holy Communion."
